Employment Type: Full-Time | Onsite Project
Reports To: Project Manager / Director of Construction

Position Summary
The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing site-specific safety programs for a utility-scale solar construction project. This role ensures compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and client safety standards while promoting a strong culture of safety across all onsite operations. This position requires the Safety Manager to travel and work onsite at various project locations as needed. Project duration and team structure vary by assignment — this role may involve a single project or a pipeline of projects, and may be a solo safety function or include oversight of safety coordinators/technicians depending on project scope.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the Site-Specific Safety Plan (SSSP)
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, state, and local safety regulations
• Conduct daily jobsite safety inspections and audits
• Lead toolbox talks, safety orientations, and ongoing training
• Investigate incidents, near-misses, and injuries; prepare reports and corrective action plans
• Monitor subcontractor safety performance and enforce corrective measures
• Maintain safety documentation, logs, and reporting requirements
• Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and risk assessments
• Coordinate emergency response procedures and drills
• Track and report key safety metrics (TRIR, DART, etc.)
• Serve as the primary safety liaison for clients, inspectors, and regulatory agencies
• Supervise safety coordinators/technicians when assigned to the project team

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, or related field (preferred)
• 5+ years of construction safety experience; solar, utility-scale, or heavy civil strongly preferred
• OSHA 30 (required); OSHA 500 preferred
• CPR/First Aid certified
• Knowledge of fall protection, trenching, heavy equipment, electrical safety (NFPA 70E), and lockout/tagout procedures
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Willingness and ability to travel to and work onsite at multiple job locations as needed, based on project assignments
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat exposure, for extended periods
• Ability to walk uneven terrain and cover significant distances across active job sites daily
• Ability to wear and properly use required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, high-visibility clothing, steel-toe boots, hearing protection, arc-rated clothing as applicable, etc.)

Preferred Experience

• Experience on utility-scale solar projects (10MW+)
• CHST, ASP, or CSP certification
• OSHA 30 (required); OSHA 500 preferred
• Multi-state project experience
